Go Africa... Go Germany 2009/10

Germany/Belgium - Ghana/Nigeria

For the third exchange in the "Go Africa... Go Germany..." series, a qualified group of 12 African and 12 German students has successfully completed "Go Africa... Go Germany 2009/10" in Germany, Belgium, Ghana, and Nigeria and enjoyed interesting excursions, discussed actual topics and met high-ranking personalities throughout the programme.

Common Paper

In this Common Paper, the participants tried to find out how a German-African partnership can address challenges affecting youth in Germany and Africa. After an analysis of the main characteristics and trends in the field of youth policies in Germany and West African countries, we propose a series of recommendations for their improvement.

After getting a first impression of Lagos, a city with 18 Mio. inhabitants (bigger than 23 African states), the smallest state of Nigeria in terms of area, 224 cars per kilometer and, compared to that, insufficient infrastructure. In the morning we listened to a panel, which addressed exactly these issues.

Cabinet Discusses National Youth Policy - President Mills

Ghana's youth policy is being discussed at the Cabinet level, President John Evans Atta Mills announced on Friday. He said absence of the policy had been a matter of concern, without any real direction to youth issues.

German-African Scholarship Exchange Programme

The programme of the African part of Go Africa... Go Germany 2009/10 is now available. The 24 African and German fellowship holders will meet on 11 March in Accra, Ghana.

Go Africa... Go Germany 2009 – Call for Papers

The Federal Agency for Civic Education is granting fellowships to students and young graduates enabling them to take part in a four-week seminar to be held in August 2009 and in February 2010, with one two-week seminar being held in Germany/Belgium and the other two-week seminar being held in Ghana/Nigeria.
