The third NECE conference in Lisbon 2007 had an ambitious agenda.
Participants from as many as 29 countries discussed effects and consequences
of worldwide migration processes on the future of citizenship education.
Conflicts and crises have accompanied the politics of migration and
integration in quite a number of European countries in recent years. Did
these conflicts have an impact on theory and practice of citizenship
education in Europe? No consensus was reached but a lot of new thinking
shaped the debates in Lisbon.
