Go Africa... Go Germany...

Journeys

Four exchanges have already been sucessfully completed. In 2007, a group of scholars spent three weeks in Namibia. A second group experienced Tanzania and Uganda in 2008/2009. The third exchange has taken place in Ghana and Nigeria in 2009/2010 and a fourth group has visited South Africa in 2010/11. The fifth programme has started in August 2011 and will continue in March 2012 in Kenya. The next exchange programme is scheduled for August 2012 in Germany and for February/March 2013 in Senegal and Ghana.

The Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb) is granting fellowships to students and young graduates, enabling them to take part in a five-week seminar to be held from August 11 to 29, 2012 in Germany and in February/March 2013 in Senegal and Ghana. For the fourth exchange in the Go Africa... Go Germany...series, a qualified group of 13 African and 13 German students has successfully completed Go Africa... Go Germany 2010/11 in Germany and South Africa and enjoyed interesting excursions, discussed actual topics and met high-ranking personalities throughout the programme.

Germany/Belgium - Ghana/Nigeria

For the third exchange in the "Go Africa... Go Germany..." series, a qualified group of 12 African and 12 German students has successfully completed "Go Africa... Go Germany 2009/10" in Germany, Belgium, Ghana, and Nigeria and enjoyed interesting excursions, discussed actual topics and met high-ranking personalities throughout the programme.

Germany/Belgium - Tanzania/Uganda

The "Go Africa... Go Germany 2008/09" programme led the German and East African participants to different settings in Germany, Brussels and East Africa. The range of topics that were discussed during lectures varied from historical, political, economic and social characteristics of the countries involved, namely Germany, Tanzania, Uganda and were enriched with excursions to historical sites, institutions and different organisations.

Go Africa... Go Germany 2008/09: Excursion

Sunday, September 14th 2008. Today an excursion is on the schedule with a visit to the village of Monreal and the Eltz Castle. We met the mayor of Monreal and the former castellan of the castle and learned a lot about local constitutions and castle history.

Germany - Namibia

In August 2007 the first generation of fellowship holders went on the journey through two continents. They were accompanied by a mosaic of different impressions and personalities which still help to constantly rethink the own perception of the other.
