Go Africa, Go Germany

Common Paper

30.3.2009
The scholarship-holders of the "Go Africa... Go Germany" programme, organized by the Federal Agency of Civic Education (bpb), are asked to elaborate on how Germany can achieve a true Partnership with Africa. For this purpose, they have already started drawing up a common paper during their trip to Germany in September 2008 and will continue working on it via Internet and during their coming trip to Tanzania and Uganda in February/March 2009. They are analyzing the interests of Germany and African countries for developing their cooperation and partnership, the favourable and unfavourable economic, political and social conditions for it, with the aim to find out how to benefit from or improve them. All of this shall be done under consideration of the international context and the previous approaches adopted in the relationship between Germany and Africa. The paper will be finalized after the return of the scholarship-holders and then be handed over to the Federal President of Germany, Horst Köhler, as the initiator and patron of the exchange programme, and to several other decision-makers.
