NECE-Workshop: Confusing Conversation
Über die Schwierigkeit in einer Fremdsprache über politische Bildung zu sprechen
Der Diskurs über Theorie und Praxis politischer Bildung wird heute nicht mehr ausschließlich innerhalb der Landesgrenzen geführt. Der Austausch mit Institutionen aus anderen europäischen Staaten bringt neue Ideen und Kooperationsmöglichkeiten und ist unabdingbare Voraussetzung für die Entstehung von "European Citizenship". Der transnationale Diskurs wird durch Sprach- und Übersetzungsprobleme erschwert. Was versteht man in Deutschland, England oder Polen unter politischer Bildung und welcher Begriff trifft das dahinter liegende Konzept in einer Fremdsprache am besten?
Die Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung und das österreichische Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur hatten dazu vom 15. bis 18. Februar 2007 rund 20 politische Bildnerinnen und Bildner aus Theorie und Praxis, Sprachwissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler sowie Politik- und Sozialwissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler zu einem Workshop nach Schloss Hofen am Bodensee eingeladen. Ziel des Workshops war es, in einem ersten Schritt die formalen und inhatlichen Grundlagen für ein (zunächst) deutsch-englisches Glossar für Begriffe aus den Bereichen Citizenship Education, Menschenrechtsbildung und Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung zu erarbeiten. Mit der Einrichtung eines virtuellen Redaktionsteams wird die Arbeit an Begriffen und Definitionen der politischen Bildung fortgesetzt. Die Ergebnisse werden auf einem Folge-Workshop im Herbst vorgestellt.

Participation Now! Citizenship Education and Democracy in Times of Change
In the focus of the NECE Conference 2012 there are current concepts of democracy and participation in the face of worldwide processes of change as well as crises in politics, society and economy. The NECE Conference is supposed to pursue the question of what might be an appropriate reaction to these obvious and new questions and developments of crisis – not only in the West. The Conference provides an interdiciplinary platform for a dialogue among multiplicators of citizenship education and civil society in Europe on the one hand and "non-European" countries on the move on the other. Actors particularly from the North African region are invited to tell about their experiences and problems and to initiate a process of learning and exchanging.
