"The
shootout happened during a morning raid on a house in
Pamulang city, west of the Indonesian capital. Police said
the raid, which comes two weeks ahead of a visit by US
President Barack Obama, specifically targeted Dulmatin and
two other senior members of the militant Islamist
organisation Jemaah Islamiyah." |

"FBI
agents are attempting to head off traditional means of
radicalization within American prisons or in small pockets
in certain US communities. But Mueller said the hardest to
counter is the militant international dialogue underway on
pro-Al Qaeda websites. 'The one that is most worrisome is
the Internet,' Mr. Mueller testified." |

"Spiegel". "Die Verhaftung scheint sich als Fehler
herausgestellt zu haben: Pakistan hat Berichte dementiert,
wonach al-Qaidas wichtigster englischsprachiger
Propagandist gefasst wurde. Es habe sich um einen Irrtum
gehandelt." |

DEA-Beamte drei Al-Qaida-Vertreter in Ghana verhaftet. "The
three men, who were recorded on tape saying that they were
levying 'taxes' on the terror group's behalf, were arrested
and extradited to New York, where they are now fighting
drug and terror charges. Anti-terrorism officials believe
the case may prove a crucial landmark in the battle against
al-Qaeda: it is the first time that anyone linked to the
terror group has faced prosecution for its newest money-
spinning activity, narco-terrorism. The $2 million proceeds
would have been a lucrative cash injection at a time when
al-Qaeda is working flat out to develop new methods of
raising money." |

Qaida-Präsenz in Jemen. "Given the pivotal role that
Yemen's militant Islamists are playing as a host for al-
Qaeda and a magnet for jihadis from abroad, this article
seeks to analyze the structure of al-Qaeda in the Arabian
Peninsula and identify the social and ideological
structures that led to its success. In order to obtain
reasonably accurate results, the author has collected the
names of about 75 people associated with al-Qaeda in Yemen
as published, and analyzed them in order to help understand
the structure of the organization." |
