Area of scientific activity Studies in Emigration and Return in the XIXth and first half of the XXth Centuries in the Field of the History of Portugal. In the published studies and in the academic meetings, the role of the return in the cities in the North of Portugal was focused. These studies have brought new caracteristics of the XIXth century emigrant and, on the other hand, of the internal migrations. The current objective is the study of the Brazilian families with Portuguese descendency and their role in the economic, social and cultural History of Portugal.

Domain of specializations Accepted for the preparation of a Doctorate in History at the University of Oporto,

The subject of the thesis being MIGRATIONS AND RETURN.

Present research interests As the Museum Director I develop the appliance of technoscience to the "Museum of Emigration and Communities" (www.museu-emigrantes.org).

Other skills/activities Creation and setting up of the Museum of Emigation: Comunities and Portuguese-descendents.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE IN PRIVATE SUPERIOR EDUCATION

1996/2007 – Assistant Professor at the Superior School of Fafe (Escola Superior de Educação de Fafe) teaching Methods and Techniques of Research and Educational Research. Supervisor and commentator of Project Works for the Diploma of Superior and Specialized Studies and Complement of the Licence Degree.

Member and searcher of the CEMRI (Centre of Studies of Migration and Intercultural Relations).

Invited by the Mayor of Fafe to work on the project of an Emigration Museum. On 2002/07/12, the Town Council of Fafe decides to approve of the project of the "Museum of Emigration and Communities".

I joined the Scientific Committee of the Commemoration of the Portuguese Discoveries and coordinated the Nucleus of the commemorative exhibition of the fifth century anniversary of Pedro Álvares Cabral’s travelling to Brazil entitled: "The Brazilians from Torna – Travels", organized by the National Committee for the Commemorations of the Portuguese discoveries.
