"The world faces 'mega-famines' that could 'impact us on biblical proportions' due to coronavirus, UN warn"

"The United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP) has cautioned that the world faces famines if enough funds are not pledged to combat the effects of the virus on the world's most fragile countries, which are already grappling with food insecurity. 'What we are facing now is a double pandemic of famines that could impact us at biblical proportions,' WFP's executive director David Beasley said during a conference in Geneva on Thursday.  Beasley said the UN's food agency helps nearly 100 million people on any given day and 'unless we can keep those essential operations going, the health pandemic will soon be followed by a hunger pandemic'."

"Julian Assange's extradition case may be delayed until November as his lawyers say they have not had contact with him for a month due to Belmarsh prison's coronavirus lockdown"

onavirus-pandemic.html

"The next stage of Julian Assange's extradition hearing may be delayed until November because of the coronavirus pandemic. The WikiLeaks founder is awaiting an extradition hearing on behalf of the United States, where he is wanted over leaked defence cables a decade ago. But his lawyers said they have been unable to take instruction from their client since the coronavirus outbreak. In a chaotic 50-minute hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court, Assange's lawyer Edward Fitzgerald QC said there had been no 'direct access' with his client for 'more than a month'. Mr Fitzgerald said: 'There have always been great difficulties in getting access to Mr Assange.' 'But with the coronavirus outbreak, the preparation of this case cannot be possible.' District Judge Vanessa Baraitser agreed to vacate the date for the next stage of the extradition, originally due to take place on May 18."

"Did coronavirus leak from a research lab in Wuhan? Startling new theory is 'no longer being discounted' amid claims staff 'got infected after being sprayed with blood'"

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8188159/Did-coronavirus-leak-research-lab-Wuhan-Startling-new-th
eory-no-longer-discounted.html

"Senior Government sources say that while 'the balance of scientific advice' is still that the deadly virus was first transmitted to humans from a live animal market in Wuhan, a leak from a laboratory in the Chinese city is 'no longer being discounted'. One member of Cobra, the emergency committee led by Boris Johnson, said last night that while the latest intelligence did not dispute the virus was 'zoonotic' – originating in animals – it did not rule out that the virus first spread to humans after leaking from a Wuhan laboratory. The member of Cobra, which receives detailed classified briefings from the security services, said: 'There is a credible alternative view [to the zoonotic theory] based on the nature of the virus. Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is that laboratory in Wuhan. It is not discounted.'"

"Will they ever learn? Chinese markets are still selling bats and slaughtering rabbits on blood-soaked floors as Beijing celebrates 'victory' over the coronavirus"

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8163761/Chinese-markets-selling-bats.html

"Those were the deeply troubling scenes yesterday as China celebrated its 'victory' over the coronavirus by reopening squalid meat markets of the type that started the pandemic three months ago, with no apparent attempt to raise hygiene standards to prevent a future outbreak. As the pandemic that began in Wuhan forced countries worldwide to go into lockdown, a Mail on Sunday correspondent yesterday watched as thousands of customers flocked to a sprawling indoor market in Guilin, south-west China. (…) 'Everyone here believes the outbreak is over and there's nothing to worry about any more. It's just a foreign problem now as far as they are concerned,' said one of the China-based correspondents who captured these images for The Mail on Sunday. The correspondent who visited Dongguan said: 'The markets have gone back to operating in exactly the same way as they did before coronavirus.'"

"Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is moved out of solitary confinement into Belmarsh prison medical wing with other inmates as he faces fight against extradition to US on hacking charges"

"Julian Assange has been moved out of solitary confinement in a prison medical wing to an area with other inmates, according to WikiLeaks. The move was described by his supporters as a 'dramatic climbdown', affecting his treatment at Belmarsh jail in south-east London. Assange, 48, has been held at the high-security prison since last April, when he was dragged out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he had been living for almost seven years. He is awaiting an extradition hearing on behalf of the United States over the activities of WikiLeaks."

"New sexed-up dossier furore: Explosive leaked email claims that UN watchdog's report into alleged poison gas attack by Assad was doctored - so was it to justify British and American missile strikes on Syria?"

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7718627/Sexed-dossier-furore-alleged-poison-gas-attack-Assad.htm
l

Peter Hitchens berichtet: "(…) a dissenting scientist, employed by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) says in a leaked email that investigations on the ground at Douma have produced no hard evidence that the alleged gas attack took place. It appears that these facts were deliberately suppressed in published OPCW reports. The email makes no attempt to suggest what did happen in Douma. It simply points out that hard evidence, gathered and examined by non-political scientists, does not support the officially endorsed version. And it claims that this resulted in the OPCW redacting the report to the extent that its conclusions were misrepresented. The revelation appears to be the worst instance of 'sexing-up' in support of war since the invasion of Iraq and Tony Blair’s doctored dossiers. (…) A source has told me that the OPCW report, which was eventually published on July 7, 2018, was stripped of a vital fact at the last minute: the traces of chlorinated material which were found at the site were so small, and so easily available, that they could simply not be said to show that chlorine gas was employed. The Mail on Sunday has also been told that, in the days before the original document was due to be published, a second report shorn of many of its most important findings was prepared behind the backs of most of the OPCW scientists."

"German spies 'can't be trusted': Relations between the UK and Berlin intelligence chiefs hit after comments by London"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4039080/GCHQ-fear-German-spies-t-trusted.html

"Relations between British and German spy chiefs have hit rock bottom because London says its counterparts in Berlin cannot be trusted to keep secrets. At a time of escalating Islamic terror threats across Europe, Germany’s spy agency BND is being frozen out by GCHQ and the National Security Agency in the US. Both London and Washington believe insecure German data servers have contributed to the leaking of tens of thousands of classified documents to Wikileaks. And they have infuriated Berlin by refusing to hand over secret intelligence data demanded by left wing and Green politicians which they fear will be aired in the German parliament."

"Ex-British ambassador who is now a WikiLeaks operative claims Russia did NOT provide Clinton emails - they were handed over to him at a D.C. park by an intermediary for 'disgusted' Democratic whistleblowers"

"'Neither of [the leaks] came from the Russians,' said Murray in an interview with Dailymail.com on Tuesday. 'The source had legal access to the information. The documents came from inside leaks, not hacks.' (...) Murray said he was speaking out due to claims from intelligence officials that Wikileaks was given the documents by Russian hackers as part of an effort to help Donald Trump win the U.S. presidential election. 'I don't understand why the CIA would say the information came from Russian hackers when they must know that isn't true,' he said. 'Regardless of whether the Russians hacked into the DNC, the documents Wikileaks published did not come from that.'"

"Isolated British Muslims are so cut off from the rest of society that they see the UK as 75 per cent Islamic, shock report reveals"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3998166/Isolated-British-Muslims-cut-rest-society-UK-75-cent-Isla
mic-shock-report-reveals.html

"The major review by the Government’s integration tsar Dame Louise Casey has found that thousands of Muslims live in enclaves with their own housing estates, schools and television channels. Some rarely, if ever, leave their neighbourhoods, and believe that Britain is a Muslim country in which up to three-quarters of the population follow Islam, according to sources who have seen the report. However, figures from the 2011 Census put the actual proportion of Muslims in England and Wales at under five per cent, while Christians account for nearly 60 per cent."

"Forgive me if this is in poor taste but I really DO question Tony Blair's sanity"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-3678087/STEPHEN-GLOVER-Forgive-poor-taste-really-question-Tony-
Blair-s-sanity.html

"Perhaps the most spine-chilling of many damning details in the Chilcot Report is Blair’s memo to Bush in July 2002 in which he informed the U.S. president, nearly a year before the invasion of Iraq: 'I will be with you, whatever.' To give such an unconditional commitment, neither sanctioned by Parliament nor approved by public opinion, was reckless. And evidence which makes me question his sanity. (...) It seems to me beyond dispute that he is an extreme narcissist — a man who craved power and adulation, especially in America, and in this self-serving cause was in some measure prepared to sacrifice the interests of his country and the lives of British troops."

"Syrian president Assad told MP that Russia's Putin 'will not let him lose'"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-3544275/Syrian-president-Assad-told-MP-Russias-Putin-not-let-
lose.html

"David Davis (...) told BBC One's The Andrew Marr Show: 'He said Putin said 'we will not let you lose', which for me was the most important phrase of the entire visit because that actually defines what the outcomes are going to be. (...) 'If the Russians will not let them lose, then there are two possible outcomes, the jihadist victory, which would be a disaster in my view by the way, the jihadist victory is not on the cards. Either a negotiated outcome or a Syrian victory is on the cards. (...) Mr Davis said he would not make removing Assad 'a red line at the moment'. The Tory MP said that one charity had told him 'there is nobody that the West would recognise as a moderate' on the ground in Syria."

"Obama blasts Cameron for 'free riding' over defence and for leaving Libya a 's***show'"

nship-did-not-boost-defence-spending-free-riders-aggravate-me.html

"In a remarkable insight into the US President's critical view of Mr Cameron's foreign policy, it was revealed today that Mr Obama believed Britain and France were too happy to rely on the US to deal with conflicts on Europe's doorstep. And he warned Mr Cameron last summer that the 'special relationship' between Britain and America would be lost if he refused to commit the UK to spending the Nato target of 2 per cent of GDP on defence. (...) He even went as far as describing the likes of Britain and France as 'free riders,' adding later that he had told Mr Cameron that 'free riders aggravate me' when he had told the PM: 'You have to pay your fair share'. In a damning assessment of Mr Cameron's record in Libya, Mr Obama said bluntly that the intervention 'didn't work' and had left the country a 's*** show'."

"Smoking gun emails reveal Blair's 'deal in blood' with George Bush over Iraq war was forged a YEAR before the invasion had even started"

Iraq-war-forged-YEAR-invasion-started.html

"A second explosive memo from the same cache also reveals how Bush used 'spies' in the Labour Party to help him to manipulate British public opinion in favour of the war. The documents, obtained by The Mail on Sunday, are part of a batch of secret emails held on the private server of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton which U.S. courts have forced her to reveal."

"Lassana Bathily, 24, originally from Mali in west Africa, guided terrified customers to safety in a supermarket chiller at the Hyper Cacher supermarket in Porte de Vincennes, Paris, yesterday. He has since been praised for his quick-thinking and bravery after 15 hostages, which reportedly included two children, escaped the ordeal, in which gunman Amedy Coulibaly was killed as he attempted to flee."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2570335/Former-British-Ambassador-Moscow-warns-Russia-invaded-Ukr

"Bill Clinton, John Major, Boris Yeltsin and Leonid Kuchma – the then-rulers of the USA, UK, Russia and Ukraine - agreed to the The Budapest Memorandum as part of the denuclearization of former Soviet republics after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Technically it means that if Russia has invaded Ukraine then it would be difficult for the US and Britain to avoid going to war."

"Mr Cameron faced ridicule, including from those in his own party. Tory MP David Davis, who has opposed the snoopers’ charter, said: 'Sadly, you can’t derive policy from watching fictional crime dramas on TV. Policy should be made using hard evidence, strong arguments and proper data, not the exploits of fictional crime fighters.' Lib Dem chairman Tim Farron said: 'Serious policies should be based on evidence, and after to listening to experts, and not based on what you saw on Homeland.'"
