"Top Biden advisors Flournoy and Blinken promise smarter, more secretive permanent war policy"

Dan Cohen wirft dem möglichen neuen US-Außenminister Antony Blinken vor, jeden von demokratischen US-Präsidenten geführten Krieg der letzten Jahre tatkräftig unterstützt zu haben. "Michele Flournoy [Biden’s likely pick for Secretary of Defense] and Tony Blinken sit atop Biden’s thousands-strong foreign policy brain trust and have played central roles in every U.S. war dating back to the Bill Clinton administration. During the Trump era, they’ve cashed in through WestExec Advisors – a corporate consulting firm that has become home for Obama administration officials awaiting a return to government. (…) Behind their rhetoric, Biden, Flournoy, and Blinken will seek nothing less than global supremacy, escalating a new and even more dangerous arms race that risks the destruction of humanity. That’s what Joe Biden calls 'decency” and “normalcy.'"

"Exclusive images from inside British court expose Assange’s un-democratic treatment, physical deterioration"

Max Blumenthal präsentiert heimlich aufgenommene Bilder vom britischen Auslieferungsverfahren gegen den WikiLeaks-Gründer Julian Assange. "The images show Assange confined to a glass cage, physically sequestered from his legal team, and unable to follow his own trial. Throughout the hearing, Assange protested his isolation, complaining to Judge Baraitser, 'I am as much a participant in these proceedings as I am at Wimbledon. I cannot communicate with my lawyers or ask them for clarifications.' He told members of his legal team he was unable to hear from inside the glass cage. (…) Nils Melzer, the United Nations special rapporteur on torture, (…) was disturbed by the traits he observed after meeting Assange in May 2019. In a report published by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the expert noted, 'in addition to physical ailments, Mr. Assange showed all symptoms typical for prolonged exposure to psychological torture, including extreme stress, chronic anxiety and intense psychological trauma.' (…) Though Assange has never been convicted of a crime and has no record of violent behavior, his cage was more restrictive than the enclosure reserved for Adolph Eichmann when the top-level Nazi bureaucrat was placed on trial in Jerusalem in 1961. Unlike Assange, Eichmann was able to communicate freely with his lawyer and listen to a live translation of his trial."

"Bombshell: Crowdstrike admits 'no evidence' Russia stole emails from DNC server"

"In newly released Congressional testimony, Crowdstrike president Shawn Henry said that 'we did not have concrete evidence' that alleged Russian hackers actually took the emails from DNC servers. 'There’s circumstantial evidence, but no evidence that they were actually exfiltrated,' Henry said. Aaron Maté breaks down Henry’s testimony and why it adds new doubt about the core allegation at the heart of Russiagate."

"US ramps up sanctions devastating Venezuela’s health sector as coronavirus spreads"

Auch in Venezuela werde der Kampf gegen die Corona-Pandemie durch die US-Sanktionen erheblich erschwert, berichtet Leonardo Flores. "The effects of the sanctions are most noticeable in Venezuela’s health sector, which has been decimated over the past five years. The US measures have impeded banks from carrying out financial transactions for the purchase of medical supplies. What’s more, they have caused a 90% decrease in Venezuela’s foreign income earnings, depriving the health sector of much needed investment. Were it not for the solidarity of China and Cuba, which sent testing kits and medicine, Venezuela would be woefully ill-equipped to handle the coronavirus. The sanctions are worsening an already dangerous situation, forcing Venezuela to spend three times as much for testing kits as non-sanctioned countries."

"Woke wonk Elizabeth Warren’s foreign policy team is stacked with pro-war swamp creatures"

"A close examination of Warren’s newly assembled team of international advisors presents little hope of change from the military interventionism, regime change strong-arming and drone warfare that characterized the administration of President Barack Obama. Earlier this month, Warren foreign policy aide Sasha Baker revealed a list of 34 'friends, colleagues, and advisors' that formed the foundation of the candidate’s foreign policy team. For the first time, observers were offered a clear window into what US foreign policy might look like under a Warren presidency. (…) Despite repeated assurances that she was leading a 'grassroots movement,' no one on this informal team has any record of grassroots anti-war organizing. Instead, the list is filled with 30 and 40-something Ivy League graduates-turned-Beltway careerists."
