Michele Barricelli ist seit 2009 Professor für Didaktik der Geschichte an der Leibniz Universität Hannover. Zuvor war er an der Freien Universität Berlin und an den Universitäten Siegen und Göttingen tätig. Seine Lehr- und Forschungsinteressen umfassen die kompetenzbasierte Modellierung des historischen Lernens, Zeitgeschichte im Unterricht (Nationalsozialismus, DDR), interkulturelles Geschichtslernen und besonders die Bedeutung des Erzählens für das historische Lernen (auch: "Geschichtsbewusstsein"). Michele Barricelli ist Mitglied der Wissenschaftlichen Fachkommission der Stiftung niedersächsische Gedenkstätten, des Internationalen Beirats der Bundeskanzler-Willy-Brandt-Stiftung und regionaler Jury-Vorsitzender im Rahmen des Geschichtswettbewerbs des Bundespräsidenten. Seine Monographie "Schüler erzählen Geschichte" (2008) liegt mittlerweile in der dritten Auflage vor. Er ist Mit-Herausgeber des Handbuchs "Praxis des Geschichtsunterrichts" (2012).

Michele Barricelli has been Professor of History Didactics at the Leibniz Universität Hannover since 2009. Before that, he worked at the Free University of Berlin and the universities of Siegen and Göttingen. His research interests and teaching activities comprise historical learning schemes based on literacy models, aspects of contemporary history in school (National socialism, GDR), intercultural history education, and the relevance of narratives in relation to historical consciousness. Barricelli is a member of the advisory council to the Foundation of Memorial Sites in Lower Saxony, and the International advisory board of the Chancellor-Willy-Brandt-Foundation and he presides a regional jury for the federal history competition of Germany. His fundamental study "Schüler erzählen Geschichte” (Students telling history) is available in a third edition. He is also co-editor of the reference handbook "Praxis des Geschichtsunterrichts” ("Methods and concepts for teaching history”) (2012).
