Stefan Troebst ist Historiker und Slavist und seit 1999 Professor für Kulturstudien Ostmitteleuropas an der Universität Leipzig. Nach seinem Studium an den Universitäten Tübingen, Sofija, Skopje und der Indiana University hat er an der Freien Universität Berlin promoviert und sich habilitiert. Seine Forschungsfelder sind die internationalen und interethnischen Beziehungen im neuzeitlichen Osteuropa sowie die vergleichende Kulturgeschichte des modernen Europa. Er ist Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen zu Kultur, Geschichte und Politik des Balkans, Ostmitteleuropas, Russlands und des Ostseeraums. Er ist Mitherausgeber des "Lexikons der Vertreibungen. Deportation, Zwangsaussiedlung und ethnische Säuberung im Europa des 20. Jahrhunderts" (2013) sowie Vorsitzender des Wissenschaftlichen Beraterkreises der Bundesstiftung Flucht, Vertreibung, Versöhnung.
Stefan Troebst is a historian and Slavicist and since 1999 Professor of East European Cultural Studies at the University of Leipzig. He studied in Tübingen, Sofija, Skopje and Bloomington and holds a Ph. D. degree in Russian and East European History by the Free University of Berlin where he also completed his habilitation. His fields of research are international and interethnic relations in modern Eastern Europe as well as the comparative cultural history of contemporary Europe. He has published widely on culture, history and politics of the Balkans, East Central Europe, Russia and the Baltic Sea Region. He is the co-editor of the German-language "Encyclopedia of Expulsions. Deportation, Forced Resettlement and Ethnic Cleansing in 20th Century Europe" (2010) as well as chairman of the advisory council of the German Federal Foundation Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation.
