"Citizenship Education for Hard-to-reach-learners"

28-30 October, Denmark

Together with partner organisations from all over Europe, the German Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) is initiating a series of six workshops within the framework of the "European Year for Citizenship through Education". The workshops will focus on current topics in citizenship education, and provide a platform for experts, scientists and educational workers in the field to exchange personal views and experiences and to present and discuss concepts and models of citizenship education in Europe.

The bpb, Severin, the University of Roskilde and the Workers Educational Association (AOF) would like to invite you to participate in the next expert workshop, which will take place in Copenhagen. There, professionals from a number of EU countries will meet to share their views on the best means and ways of getting hard-to-reach-learners involved in citizenship education.

Reaching hard-to-reach-learners presents a challenge to the institutions that guide education policy in Europe. For years now, different countries have initiated and experimented with various models and methods aimed at these target groups, but those attempts have for the most part remained at a national level. In the workshop, experts will discuss their experiences in interacting with hard-to-reach-learners all over the continent. The goal of the study groups at the workshop will be to further develop existing models and to set down blueprints for fresh approaches to the issue.

The workshop will be held in English.
