Workshop: Public Libraries as Centres for Civic Education in Europe

The Participants were invited to present best practices in all the fields connected to informal civic education (culture, music, sport, politics, ecology; activities of the museums and galleries and last but not least schools and libraries). Now, the IPA in co-operation with FRSI will prepare a publication, that will include presented papers, ideas from the general debate as well as the conclusions and recommendations from the seminar. This publication will be discussed with a group of librarians in July 2010, who will review the suggestions and will adapt them to their practical opportunities and their vision of a library. The project will end in publishing a syllabus including the best ideas in the field of civic education. The publication will be presented at the librarians' congress, which is planned for November 2010.
All project presentations, the participant list, the description of the whole project as well as pictures of the expert seminar are available here.
