Dan Diner ist derzeit Professor für Europäische Geschichte an der Hebräischen Universität in Jerusalem. Außerdem ist er EURIAS Fellow am Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) in Uppsala. Seit Juni 2014 leitet er das vom European Research Council geförderte Projekt "JudgingHistories – Experience, Representation and Judgement of World War II in an Age of Globalization." Von 1999 bis 2014 war er Direktor des Simon-Dubnow-Instituts für jüdische Geschichte und Kultur an der Universität Leipzig. Er ist weiterhin der Leiter des dort angesiedelten Projektes "Europäische Traditionen – Enzyklopädie jüdischer Kulturen" der Sächsischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig. In seiner akademischen Laufbahn besetzte Dan Diner diverse Lehr- und Forschungspositionen an verschiedenen Universitäten u.a. in Wien, Princeton, Oxford, Duke, Stanford und Chicago. Seine Publikationen widmen sich vor allem der europäischen und globalen Geschichte.
Dan Diner is Professor for Modern European History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Professor Diner is currently on sabbatical at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) in Uppsala. Since June 2014 he also serves as Principal Investigator of the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant project "JudgingHistories – Experience, Representation and Judgement of World War II in an Age of Globalization". From 1999 to 2014 he directed the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture at Leipzig University. At the Saxonian Academy of Sciences in Leipzig he is director of the project "European Traditions - Encyclopedia of Jewish Cultures". As part of his academic career he conducted research and taught at various universities: among them in Vienna, Princeton, Oxford, Duke, Stanford and Chicago. His books deal with the topic of European and Global History in general and German History in particular.
