Katharina Gerund lehrt Amerikanistik an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) und ist Koordinatorin des "Graduiertenkollegs 1718 ‚Präsenz und implizites Wissen’" der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Sie studierte Amerikanistik, Medienwissenschaft und Psychologie an der FAU und promovierte 2012 an der Universität Bremen. Studien- und Forschungsaufenthalte führten sie an die University of Wisconsin, Madison, sowie die Yale University (USA). Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte beinhalten: Amerikanisierung/Reeducation, kulturelle Mobilität, amerikanische Populärkultur, feministische Theorie sowie afroamerikanische Kultur. Zu ihren Publikationen zählen u.a. "Pirates, Drifters, Fugitives: Figures of Mobility in the US and Beyond" (2012), "Transatlantic Cultural Exchange: African American Women’s Art and Activism in West Germany" (2013) und "Die amerikanische Reeducation-Politik nach 1945: Interdisziplinäre Perspektiven auf ‚America’s Germany’" (2015).
Katharina Gerund teaches American Studies at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), where she also coordinates the interdisciplinary doctoral program "Presence and Tacit Knowledge" (funded by the German Research Foundation - DFG). She studied American Studies, Media Studies, and Psychology at FAU and received her PhD from the University of Bremen in 2012. She also studied at the University of Wisconsin, Madison as a DAAD fellow and was awarded a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) postdoctoral fellowship to conduct research at Yale University. Her main research interests are: Americanization/reeducation in Germany, cultural mobility, American popular culture, feminist theory, and African American culture. Her publications include: "Transatlantic Cultural Exchange: "Pirates, Drifters, Fugitives: Figures of Mobility in the US and Beyond" (2012), African American Women’s Art and Activism in West Germany" (2013) and "Die amerikanische Reeducation-Politik nach 1945: Interdisziplinäre Perspektiven auf 'America’s Germany'" (2015).
