Rainer Rother ist seit April 2006 Künstlerischer Direktor der Deutschen Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen in Berlin und Leiter der Retrospektive der Berlinale. Nach dem Studium der Germanistik und Geschichte und der Promotion war er von 1989 bis 1991 Dozent an der Universität Hannover, ab 1991 Ausstellungskurator und Leiter der Kinemathek des Deutschen Historischen Museums in Berlin. Rainer Rother has been artistic director of the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum for Film and Television in Berlin and head of the Retrospective of the Berlinale since April 2006. After studying German Philology and History and receiving a doctorate, from 1989 to 1991 he was a lecturer at the University of Hanover, and from 1991 exhibition curator and head of the film library of the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin.
