What is histoCON 2025 about?

histoCON 2025: is an international history festival by the Interner Link: Federal Agency for Civic Education/Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (bpb), funded by the German Externer Link: Federal Foreign Office/Auswärtiges Amt. The event´s title is histoCON 2025 „80 Years On: Young Perspectives on the Global Impact of WWII"

Where will histoCON 2025 take place?

histoCON 2025 will be held at the Alte Münze in Berlin, located at Molkenmarkt 2, 10179 Berlin. The Alte Münze is a former mint situated along the Spree River in Berlin-Mitte. It has been repurposed as a cultural quarter, offering space for artists, cultural events, and various creative endeavors. The venue provides a unique blend of historical architecture and modern cultural spaces, making it an ideal setting for histoCON 2025.

What language is the event in?

All sessions and workshops will be in English. Fluency in English is required.

Are there any parts of the program that are open to the public

The workshops as well as evening program will not be open to the public.

Who will assist me in case I have general questions?

In case you have general questions, please contact the Info Point at site or ask a person carrying a team badge (turquoise).

Where can I find the program of the festival?

You can find the festival program on our website via this Interner Link: link. To make histoCON more sustainable there will only be a digital version of the festival program this year.

Is it mandatory to participate in the whole festival program?

Yes, it is mandatory to participate in the whole program.

What is the dress code?

histoCON is an event with and for young people. Please dress as you feel comfortable and appropriate for the occasion.

Travel Arrangements and Accommodation

What is the Travel Allowance?

Participants receive a flat-rate travel allowance based on their country of residence. The amount is reimbursed in euros at the event and does not require receipts. You can find a list of the various countries and the respective flat rate payments here:

What are the conditions for the Travel Allowance?

  • Attend all sessions from May 5, 6 PM, to May 8, 9 PM.

  • The allowance is only paid at the end of the event; no prepayments are made.

  • What expenses does the travel allowance cover?

    You can use it for all costs that occur to you like transportation, visa fees, and travel insurance. If your costs exceed the allowance, you’ll need to cover the extra.

    Can I extend my stay in Germany so that I arrive before May 5 or depart after May 9?

    If you apply to take part in histoCON and make use of the Travel Allowance, you can choose your travel dates individually. However, you must attend the entire histoCON (May 5, 6 p.m. to May 8, 9 p.m.) in order to receive the Travel Allowance. The stay in Germany outside the histoCON event times must also be financed entirely by yourself. If you apply for a grant, we can only book flights for May 5 (exception: long flights require an arrival on May 4) and departures on May 9 (there is no extension option).

    What about accommodation and food?

    Participants will be provided free accommodation in shared double rooms, separated by gender. You are free to make alternative accommodation arrangements at your own expense. If you do not wish to take up the offer of accommodation, please inform us in good time. Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, will also be offered free of charge throughout the event. Please note that only vegetarian and vegan food options will be available.

    What happens if I cancel?

    If you cancel after confirming your participation, notify us immediately. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in charges for travel or accommodation costs. Travel insurance is recommended.
