"Auschwitz today: Janina Rekłajtis" herunterladen als:
Photographer Martin Blume has been working on the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp for more than four years. During this time he has encountered numerous survivors. In talking to them, he uses his photographs to trigger their memories. In this exploration of the power of images, he speaks to Janina Rekłajtis while showing her his work.
Janina Reklajtis (born 23 March 1934) was deported from Warsaw to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp in early August 1944. It wasn’t until fifty years after the end of the war that she first visited what is now the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial. Today she often lectures to classes and speaks to young people about her time in the concentration camp.
