Unity in Diversity: Integration in a Post-Migrant Society
Germany has become a country of immigration. This fact is reflected by the heterogeneous population as well as social negotiation processes with regard to affiliations, national identities, participation and equality of opportunity. For a long time, the term "integration" was primarily linked to the idea of an established core or host society into which migrants and their descendants had to integrate themselves. Accordingly, elements in the population without migration backgrounds who cannot cope with the new, diverse society were lost out of sight. How do we want to and how can we live together in a society characterized by diversity? A search for answers.
