Beschreibung

Colonialism can be described as the control by one power over a dependent area or people. This arises when nations or people are subjugated to another. The socio-economic and political system we have today in the African continent were introduced during the colonial era and this makes this topic very vital and questionable. The term Colonialism does not only dominate shapes our ideas about race, but also strongly have an influence on how we think about class, culture, gender, and sexuality. With this backdrop, this workshop tries to deliberate on the reasons why colonialism is still a relevant topic and how it can be approached in Civic Education in Germany.
